Our Sunday School nurtures children in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo faith through Holy Scripture and Holy Tradition — teaching prayer, hymns, church history, and the Ge’ez and Amharic language, so our young people grow rooted in Christ and their heritage.
Our Goals
- ✓ Ground each child in the teachings of the Holy Scripture and the Church
- ✓ Teach the prayers, hymns (mezmur), and order of worship
- ✓ Preserve our Ge’ez and Amharic language and cultural identity
- ✓ Encourage a life of prayer, fasting, and service to others
When We Meet
🕙 Sunday School meets every Saturday at 10:00 AM at the church.
Our Classes
Four levels grouped by age, each guiding children deeper in the faith.
Level I — Beginners
Ages 4–6 · Pre-K – Kindergarten
Our youngest learners take their first steps in the faith with the Ge’ez alphabet (Fidel), simple prayers, and beloved Bible stories.
Level II — Elementary
Ages 7–9 · Grades 1–3
Children grow in their knowledge of the Old and New Testament, learn the meaning of fasting, and begin to sing the hymns of the Church.
Level III — Intermediate
Ages 10–12 · Grades 4–6
Students explore church history, the seven sacraments, and deeper Bible study, and begin learning to read Ge’ez.
Level IV — Youth
Ages 13+ · Grade 7 and up
Our youth study theology, the Divine Liturgy, and how to live the Orthodox faith in the modern world, and are encouraged to serve the Church.
